May Garden of the Month

The Woodstock Garden Club selected the garden of Cindy Thompson on Forest Avenue as the May Garden of the Month.  Cindy's greatest hobby is gardening and over the last 25 years she transformed a grassy yard to a backyard oasis.  Curving beds are filled with flowers, shrubs and trees with whimsical garden ornaments tucked in between.  The shaded areas around the house are filled with a wide variety of hostas.

Garden Clubs of Illinois, Inc. President Susan Cooney (pictured left) presented the Woodstock Garden Club with a Conservation Award and $50 cash prize.  The award was given in recognition of The Club's multi year Beautification Project at the Woodstock Train Station.    Accepting the award was Marita Sension.  The Garden Clubs of Illinois, Inc. Annual Convention was held at the Orrington Hilton in Evanston.
